The Turbo S?s 3.8-litre direct-injection twin-turbocharged flat-six produces 552bhp at 6500-6750rpm and 553lb ft at 2200-4400rpm for short periods of overboost. The consistent 516lb ft at 2100-4250rpm should suffice on part throttle, of course. The net result of all that power and torque coupled to four-wheel drive, PDK and rear P Zeros that measure 305/30 ZR20 is a pretty astonishing set of performance figures.
The 911 Turbo S?s power and performance place it directly against the 562bhp, ?178,526 Ferrari 458 Italia and the 616bhp, ?176,000 McLaren 12C. The Turbo S hangs onto the coat tails of the freakishly fast McLaren, but on these first impressions, can?t match the irresistibly huge character of the Ferrari. The 542bhp, ?128,710 Audi R8 V10 Plus is exciting enough to be considered a supercar while at ?76,610, the 542bhp Nissan GT-R is perhaps the 911?s most troubling rival.
