Se non sbaglio anche la centralina della MM cambia sulla R ed ha un maggior numero di ingressi ed uscite.

        Tra l'R e l'S differenze minime e non sostanziali!!!
        Anno 2005 Tra l'R e S differenze notevoli a livello motoristico....
        Quindi 2004 prenderei l'S;
        2005 prenderei l'R
C'monnnnnn.......... the 2004 S still had the old style swingarm.

The differences between and S and an R were greater in 2004 than in 2005

If u talking about design and "estetica" mybe you are right.
But i have to inform you that with the S 2004 Ducati gave you for few euro
            the new style swingarm.
If you talk about engine and performance you are completely wrong my friend....

The new swingarm is no just about "estetica"

As for the engine, i know the 05 R model had a few improvments in the engine BUT the 04 R engine is much close to the 05 R than to the 05 S (and you know that for a fact). In reality the 05 R engine gainned a max of 3hp when compared to the 04 R.
The 139hp vs 150hp announced by Ducati is virtual because the measured in different places. At wheeel for 04 at the crank (like the jap bikes) for the 05.
It's all a BIG illusion, my friend

No , all the 998R , 999R 2003/2004 has the hp measured at cranck!!
They from 2005 just changed the "fattore di correzione".
Your 999r have 139 at cranck!!!
Believe me the 150hp is a different engine from your....

Never any car or motorcicle brand declared hp at the wheel, always at the engine. They just changed correction factor from EC/95 to DIN according to all other motorcicle brands in the world

I actually knew it was not measured at the wheel
