We just had a Tuono V4 come in with this same breakage yesterday. The replacement part is on backorder, but we luckily had a crashed RSV4 there to borrow parts from. Micah is sending detailed pics of the broken part to Aprilia Technical, as there did seem to be a difference in it from a 2010 RSV4 (part worked fine) and the newer one. Same casting numbers and part #, but the plastic felt softer (maybe from getting so hot)

Metal is a SOLUTION, plastic is an extension. This should be a part made from cast aluminum really. The quality of the plastic part is not good and it is under quite a bit of pressure and thermal loads, especially in a city use bike on lean mapping. Cooling system pressure and plastic have just never really agreed with my way of thinking. I bought metal thermostat housings for my BMW cars because they cost the same as the oem plastic parts and will never break, well not in my lifetime.
It sucked to have to cannibalize parts to get the customer's bike finished, reminded me of 2003 a bit really. Oh well, here is to hoping the next batch is better made or slightly redesigned.
